Judging
Audience Reaction: how well does the audience respond? Laughs, applause, and engagement.
Stage Presence: confidence, energy, and command of the stage.
Material/Jokes Structure: originality, timing, and overall joke structure.
Three Rounds:
Preliminary: four (4) minute sets. Judges select four (4) comics to move to the semifinals.
Semifinals: three (3) minutes sets. Audience select two (2) comics to move to the finals.
Finals: two (2) minute sets. Audience selects one winner.
Contest Rules
To keep the competition fair, professional and financially sustainable for everyone involved, all performers must agree to the following requirements before being accepted into the lineup.
Five paying guests are required: each performer is required to have a minimum of five paying guest attend the show. Your guest support is what allows us to produce the event, pay the winner, cover production costs and continue offering opportunities for comedians. Last-minute cancellations because you cannot meet the guest requirement may affect your eligibility for future competitions.
Professional commitment: by accepting a spot in the competition, you are committing to the entire event, not just your performance. All performers are required to remain at the venue until the competition has concluded and the winner has been announced. Leaving immediately after performing or after being eliminated disrupts the competition, affects the audience experience and is unfair to the comics still competing.
Audience support: performers are responsible for communicating to their guests that the competition is designed to be enjoyed from start to finish. Guest who stay through the entire show help create a better experience for every comedian competing.
